MultiShortcuts Pro for Mac · Terms & License

Terms of Use & MIT License

Plain language first. Full legal text below. Effective for MultiShortcuts Pro for Mac v2.0.0 and later, unless updated.

In Plain English

  • It's free. No subscription, no account, no in-app purchases. "Unlock Full Features" is a free switch.
  • It's open. The source code is plain Lua. Read it, modify it, share it.
  • It does not collect data. MultiShortcuts Pro runs entirely on your Mac. No telemetry, no analytics, no network calls. Your shortcuts never leave your computer unless you put them in a synced folder.
  • It's provided as-is. We can't promise it will work perfectly in every app or every situation. Test it on non-critical work before relying on it.
  • You're responsible for what you build with it. The shortcuts and automations you create are yours, including any mistakes they might cause.
  • We're not Apple. MultiShortcuts Pro is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Apple Inc.

1 · License

MultiShortcuts Pro for Mac is licensed under the MIT License, a permissive open-source license. You may use, copy, modify, merge, publish, distribute, sublicense, and sell copies of the software, subject only to the conditions in the legal text below. This covers the Hammerspoon script and the Karabiner-Elements rule file.

2 · No Warranty

The software is provided "as is," without warranty of any kind, express or implied. This includes warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. The authors and copyright holders are not liable for any claim, damages, or other liability arising from the software or its use.

3 · Your Responsibility

MultiShortcuts Pro is a keyboard automation tool. The shortcuts and macros you create with it type text, press keys and open apps, files and links on your behalf. Before relying on any shortcut for important work, test it. GnuKey LLC is not responsible for data loss, document corruption, or other consequences of shortcuts that you, the user, define and run.

4 · Privacy

MultiShortcuts Pro does not collect, transmit, log, or store any data outside of your local Mac. There is no telemetry, no analytics, no usage reporting, and no network communication initiated by the script itself. All files it writes (your shortcut definitions, usage statistics, preferences and backups) live in ~/.hammerspoon/MultiShortcutsPro/ on your computer. If you choose Set up hold keys, it also writes the rule file to ~/.config/karabiner/assets/complex_modifications/.

When it pastes a long expansion, it marks that clipboard entry as private and temporary so clipboard managers and Universal Clipboard skip it, then restores your previous clipboard. This privacy property is enforced by the source code itself, which you are free to inspect. The script imports no networking modules; opening a web launcher hands the link to your browser.

5 · Third-Party Software

MultiShortcuts Pro runs on top of Hammerspoon, which you install separately from hammerspoon.org. Hammerspoon is free, open-source software with its own MIT-style license. MultiShortcuts Pro does not redistribute or modify Hammerspoon.

The hold-for-modifier keys use Karabiner-Elements, which you also install separately. It has its own license and terms. Keyboard Maestro, mentioned in the guide as an optional extra, is commercial software with its own terms. MultiShortcuts Pro does not bundle any of them.

6 · Trademarks

Mac, macOS, and Apple are trademarks of Apple Inc., registered in the U.S. and other countries. MultiShortcuts Pro is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Apple Inc. References to "Mac" and "macOS" are descriptive: they indicate the platform on which the software runs (nominative fair use).

MultiShortcuts Pro and SpeedKee are trademarks of GnuKey LLC.

7 · Changes

These terms may be updated as MultiShortcuts Pro evolves. The current version of this page applies to the most recently downloaded copy. Older versions are governed by the terms in effect when they were downloaded, as preserved in their NOTICE.txt file.
